    The 2026 university open days: What should I study?

Over 61,000 students began studying in Brain City Berlin in 2024/25, and a total of 206,458 students were enrolled at Berlin universities and universities of applied sciences in the 2025/26 semester. This year is no different, yet many prospective students are still asking themselves which institution and, above all, which subject to choose. To help answer that important question, Berlin's eleven public, two denominational and over 20 state-recognised private higher education institutions hold annual open day events.

In 2026, the open days begin at the end of May. Taster lectures, information sessions with current students, laboratory tours, advisory services and opportunities to get to know campus life all offer valuable insights. Most events require no registration and are free to attend. Detailed information is available on each institution's website. We have listed the currently known events below, but it is worth checking the relevant website again before your visit.
