Berlin Brandenburg Innovation Award 2025: Apply by July 14!

The competition for the Berlin Brandenburg Innovation Award 2025 has started. Ideas for innovative products, concepts and solutions are sought that exemplify the innovative power and economic strength of the capital region.

Universities and research institutions from the capital region can once again apply for the Berlin Brandenburg Innovation Award in cooperation with companies. B-to-B partnerships are also welcome to participate. This includes start-ups, economic actors, craft businesses, and industrial companies.

The goal of the award, which is jointly presented annually by the states of Berlin and Brandenburg, is to showcase innovations from the five clusters of the Joint Innovation Strategy of the States of Berlin and Brandenburg (innoBB 2025). Accordingly, the competition categories are divided into the cluster areas of energy technology, ICT, media and creative industries, optics and photonics, healthcare, and transport, mobility, and logistics.

As Franziska Giffey, Berlin's Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy, and Public Enterprises emphasized, Berlin-Brandenburg is one of the leading innovation locations in Europe. "This region, where creativity, technology, and entrepreneurship merge, offers exceptional opportunities for everyone who wants to actively shape the future. It is especially visionary minds who, with their ideas and commitment, set new impulses and pave the way to a better, more sustainable future," said Giffey. And Daniel Keller, Brandenburg's Minister for Economic Affairs Labor, Energy, and Climate Action, highlighted that the award is not only a recognition of outstanding achievements but also a platform to bring creative ideas and impressive projects into the spotlight. Keller: "We not only promote cooperation between business, science, and society but also send a strong signal for innovations that shape our future."

The award is endowed with a total of 75,000 euros. The winners of each category can win 15,000 euros each. The award is accompanied by a marketing package.

The application deadline is July 14, 2025, at 12:00 PM.

The Innovation Award has been jointly presented by Berlin and Brandenburg since 1992. It was first announced in Berlin in 1984. So far, there have been more than 180 winners and over 4,680 applications. Last year, 125 companies and cooperations participated in the competition. Economic enterprises and institutions from the region are closely involved as partners in the award.

The nominees for the Berlin Brandenburg Innovation Award 2025 will be announced on October 2. The award ceremony will take place on November 28, 2025. (vdo)
