Register now! "I, Scientist" - Gender Conference for Women Scientists

25.07.2019 I Already for the third time the international conference "I, Scientist"  takes place in the Brain City Berlin. From 20 to 21 September 2019, students and scientists from a wide variety of disciplines will come together at the Technische Universität Berlin to discuss equal opportunities and career paths in science and research, to network - and to make a difference. Registration is open until 5 August 2019.

Gender imbalance is unfortunately still not a matter of course in science, as it is in many other areas of society, even though a lot has already happened in the Brain City Berlin. The imbalance in terms of treatment, staffing and payment between men, women and transgender in academia and science is the subject of "I, Scientist". The international conference will take place on September 20 and 21, 2019 for the third time in the Brain City Berlin. This year's venue is the Technische Universität Berlin, initiator and organizer is the Lise-Meitner-Gesellschaft e.V. (Lise-Meitner Society)

The two-day event, which was initiated in 2017 by several (Phd) students, will focus on three main topics: Equal opportunities, career opportunities and networking. Topics such as queer science, abuse of power and harassment in science, activism or stereotypes and prejudices are on the agenda. Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. mult. Rita Süssmuth is one of the 20 speakers who will open the conference and give one of the keynotes.

A programme highlight on Friday afternoon will be the Career Fair and a Career Speed Dating in the atrium of the main TU building. And at the "Networking Breakfast" on Saturday, experts and mentors will be available for discussions in an informal setting.

The event, which was attended by more than 380 scientists in 2018, ends on Saturday evening with a conference dinner to which all participants* are invited for the first time this year. (vdo)

If you want to register for the "I, Scientist" conference should hurry: You can only register until August 5, 2019. After this, last minute registration will be availble unless the conference is sold out.
