“Dare to know”: Berlin Science Week 2022

From November 1st through the 10th, the scientific world comes together again in Brain City Berlin. The central location of the festival again this year will be the Berlin Science Week Campus in the Museum of Natural History. And the Falling Walls Summit will present ground-breaking work from international research from the 7th to the 9th of November. Scientific institutions or organisations can still register to participate in Berlin Science Week until July 31st.

“Dare to know” – is the motto of this year’s Berlin Science Week. The Science Festival will be held for the seventh time in 2022 in Brain City Berlin – keeping with tradition, from November 1st through the 10th.

Berlin Science Week is one of the largest and most exciting science festivals in the world, with around 500 speakers and more than 200 events. The main idea here is open, trans-disciplinary exchange of ideas and networking among researchers. And – as the guiding them of Berlin Science Week 2022 already indicates, new approaches.

Also on the programme for Berlin Science Week again this year are lectures, panels, workshops, performances, virtual exhibitions and tours through the entire city. As always, the spectrum of topics is broad. It extends from „New Pathways in Biomedicine“ to „Scientific Cooperation in the Arctic“ or a Science Slam in the Planetarium. The central event location is the Berlin Science Week Campus in the Museum of Natural History. From the 4th to the 5th of November, the campus offers, under the over-arching topic „Paradigm Shift. Co-Creating a Sustainable Now“, exciting events, which engage how we can arrange our lives to be greener and more sustainable.. These include a management game about the structural change from IASS Potsdam, a Workshop by the University Zurich on sustainable textile manufacturing, an improvisational theatre from the Berlin University Alliance and a panel on regenerative food preparation based on the example „Future of Chocolate“. There will be many opportunities for networking on the campus in a lively atmosphere as well.

The Falling Walls Science Summit from the 7th to the 9th of November is another highlight of the science festival. Here, researchers and politicians will hold discussions together with representatives from business and society. On the 9th of November, the day we commemorate the fall of he Berlin Wall, the “brightest minds on the planet” – according to the BBC – will present themselves at the Summit, „Falling Walls Breakthroughs of the Year“

Berlin Science Week is coordinated by the philanthropic Falling Walls Foundation. The Senate Office for Science and Research and partners for business and technology in Berlin support the event.

Admission to most events at the science festival is free. Early registration is recommended since generally only a small number of places will be available on-site.

Scientific institutions and organisations can register until July 31st, 2022 to participate in Berlin Science Week 2022. Anyone who misses this deadline can send an e-mail to: info@berlinscienceweek.com.
