Success for Brain City Berlin in the Excellence Initiative
In the first decisions of the "Excellence Strategy of the Federal and State Governments" Berlin has achieved great success: a total of seven clusters of excellence have been raised by Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
An international panel of experts selected a total of 88 projects from 195 draft proposals. The approved clusters of excellence will now receive up to ten million euros annually for seven years.
The following Berlin clusters of excellence have been approved:
- MATH+ - Wie Berliner Mathematik die Zukunft gestaltet
- Matters of Activity: Image Space Material - Eine neue Kultur des Materialen
- NeuroCure - Neue Perspektiven in der Therapie neurologischer und psychiatrischer Erkrankungen
- Science of Intelligence (SCIoI) - Intelligenz verstehen lernen
- Contestations of the Liberal Script (SCRIPTS) - Weltweite Herausforderungen für liberale Demokratie und Marktwirtschaft als Ordnungsmodell
- Temporal Communities - Doing Literature in a Global Perspective - Ein neues Verständnis von Literatur über Zeiten, Kulturgrenzen und Medien hinweg
- Unifying Systems in Catalysis (UniSysCat) - Katalyse-Netzwerke verstehen und nutzen lernen
