The 2017 Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize went to ten scientists selected by the nominating committee from 134 proposals. Of the ten new prize winners, there were three each from the natural sciences, humanities and social sciences as well as two from the life sciences and engineering sciences, respectively. Each of the ten winners will receive prize money of EUR 2.5 million for upcoming research projects.
