The Falling Walls Foundation is a non-profit organization located in Berlin with the goal of communicating science and research to society and promoting inter- and transdisciplinary exchange.
Every year on the 9th of November, prominent guests from science, politics, business and culture come together at the Falling Walls Conference in Berlin. In 15 minutes each, 20 international scientists provide insights into upcoming breakthroughs in the natural sciences, the humanities, the life sciences, business and technology.
The first Falling Walls Conference took place in 2009 on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and has since developed into a highly regarded platform for international top-level research.
Supporting events accompanying the Falling Walls Conference:
- Falling Walls Venture – On November 8, the program will be complemented by the Falling Walls Venture, a competition for science-based start-ups.
- Falling Walls Lab – The Falling Walls Lab aims to promote up-and-coming researchers. Young scientists or professionals from all disciplines have the opportunity to present their research work to an international audience of experts. The 100 finalists are selected worldwide - there are Falling Walls Labs in Africa, Asia, Australia, North America, South America and Europe.
- Falling Walls Circle – Also on November 8, at the Falling Walls Circle, international decision-makers will discuss fundamental issues of science policy and research funding.
